Later, an industrial-grade foam became popular with American potato growers for insulating their storage sheds. By the 1970s, spray foam was adapted for home insulation, helping Americans keep their homes cool in summer and warm in winter.
When open-cell foam was first introduced in Canada, it was applied directly under roof tiles, which caused moisture problems and rotted rafters—leading to costly roof replacements.
Today, Tabatin takes a completely different approach. We refurbish your entire roof, carefully seal the ends of the rafters, and then apply the latest polyurethane rigid spray foam called Walltite — developed by BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies.

Once your roof’s exterior is in perfect condition, we repair or replace the sarking felt on the inside and carefully seal the ends of the rafters. The spray foam is heated in our van and applied through a heated hose at 123°F. We spray about six layers, with each layer bonding tightly to the felt and rafters within 3–5 seconds.
